Default New Features we look forward to in the NEXT GEN GPS Radar Detetctors

Mapping!!! - Give us the ability to see our data and to exchange our data. Our AutoLearns and unlearns, our "others", our RLC and SC's that we add to our own RD. Use a common non-proprietary file type that is compatible with google mapping and google earth.

The ability to add our own data via computer. This could be share data or preconceived data as many jurisdictions are giving out mobile speed camera data that can be entered into our RD

Notification of entry into or startup in an XBand area. This information can be managed via the GPS database.

Notification of entry into or startup in an high Laser use area. This information can also be managed via the GPS database.

Allow the user approval of AutoLearned data before it is automatically saved in the RD (PLEASE!!!!?)

    Did I say Mapping!!!!?

Logging of Hits and our actions at the notification. Memory is cheap. All the intelligence is already in the system. Allow the logging to be managed and shared. The logged data should include speed (before and after alert), direction of travel and the type of alert as well as how long the alert lasted.

    Mapping?

Bluetooth Interface!!! Read this part carefully: Have the RD emulate a basic cell phone. Many phones when paired with a compatible headunit could automatically interrupt the music and transfer additional information to the headunit. Depending on the headunit there could be a delay imposed butthis could be overcome by keeping the audio on the RD until the hit has been acknowledged on the RD (muting). There are good points and bad points for this but it would work.

Bluetooth Interface!!! Allow for an FTP connection between a cell phone and the RD unit. This could pass information received fro the RD to be passed to the internet with the right applications. This information could be shared in the same manner as Trapster is used.

RD Control Integration with PND like the GARMIN nuvi 1690. This could eliminate the number of toys on the dash or windshield. There is much more the 1690 could do and this can be addressed later.

Add yours below or tell me how my ideas won't work or are stupid.

    Oh yeah...

    Mapping?

If I were a LEO, I'd lockout a location and sit there with K-band all day. Some of the things you mention require interaction between human and RD. If the 9500 series RDs were to start alerting to a locations where there might be X band or might be laser, it would irritate the owners who like to be left alone if there is no threat.

A lot of good ideas but I'm pretty sure those features would jack up the price of a unit.

The rapid decline of the price of technology will take care of the price issues. The GPS unit I have in my truck cost over $650 3 years ago. The same model is now under $200.

The SC55 is a great example where they are headed, all they need to do is add GPS audio lock out with selectable radius. Then we will be able to chose any RD on the market and add IX/CI features to them via a SC55.

Preferably in a package like a GPS mirror that maps out everything via touch screen like Escorts Smartmirror.

Modular systems are the way to go, and the sooner they relies this the better.
For example a Redline that can be mounted remotely and controlled, or not. But can also have a SC55-Smart mirror add on, or not. And can have ZR4's added to it, or not.

I'm all for features, but I do not want them in a mirror:

    1. I hate wide angle rear view mirrors. I like them only as a passenger side mirror.

    2. I don't like big ass rvms.

    3. I want as much of the information I get to be at or below to eye level.

    Give Escort's leg a break!!!!

ALL THEY DID IS RIP OFF CHEETAH PRODUCTS!!!!! ADDITIONALLY ESCORT DOESN'T EVEN OPERATE THEIR OWN DATABASE!!! They didn't do anything new or innovative! Sorry for a company that has as much money as escort I expect more than a rip off! ALSO the SC55 is still in beta form unshipped![replacer_img] They don't deserve any praise for ripping off another companies hard work!

    Spoiler: show

    Radar Detectors-V1 & BEL v995
    Laser Jammer-Laser Interceptor Quad
    GPS Camera Locator-Cheetah C100
    GPS Nav-Garmin nuvi w/Trapster
    CB Radio-Galaxy DX-949 w/Wilson 500
    Scanner-RS Pro-96

Depends on the mirrors design. If its done right it would be more of a screen that can be mounted on a Mirror or even mounted like a Nav device. That's the plus to a modular design, it can work for anyone.

And??? Everything is ripped off by someone if your thinking that way.

Just because your a CHEETAH fan boy, doesn't mean everyone is ripping them off. If that was the case why doesn't Cheetah sue them.

We are simply discussing "NEXT GEN GPS Radar Detectors". I don't really care who makes them, my example are for explanation purposes, and i know Escort products better than Cheetah.

Stop being so argumentative, and contribute to a conversation. Stop being a troll.
