    Default Integrated/remote detectors

What is out there now? It seems that everything that is available is either sky high $ (multiple thousands - 9500ci) or old and arguably obsolete if going by some threads in the search.

I just need a good RD that is remote with an internal control/visual panel (i have 0 interest in audible warnings. it must be visual, and not just some blinking led..).

The car in question already has a totally convoluted system that is for the lack of a better term, crying wolf every 2 seconds for no reason. So that isn't of much use, although it is a pity, as you can tell somebody spent a lot on it. Regardless, it doesn't work.

I don't need laser/radar as one system. I will run separate laser jammer. I just need a good remote radar detector along the lines of the sr7 or rx75, to give you an idea of the type of control panel and warning system i'm after.

So, are these 2 above still current (i don't need a 3+ mile detection range, to be realistic here) or is there something else the experienced users on here can suggest? Search has been less than helpfull.

There are a multitude of reasons i do not want to run a "box" aka windshield mount so let's not get into that

    help?

Check out the new Escort Qi45, same platform as the Sr7.

If you look around the internet, you might find a Bel STi-R for a reasonable price, $500-600. This unit is a top-notch performing remote, but has been discontinued by Bel.

Yeah Qi45 is probably the way to go.

x2 on the STI-R. If you are looking to not pay over 1000 bucks that will be the best bang for your buck for remote detectors under 1k.

STi-Rs can be found cheap online, that's the best on the market in your price range. Failing that maybe a Qi45 or an RX75? They're both not much better (if at all) than a windshield mount on range though.

I have one of those funky windshields with all sorts of sensors that basically destroy anything that goes through them

I'll look at the stir but i could pick up an rx75.. too good of a deal to pass on some vs the stir. I was mostly concerned with not ending with a complete dud, like the thing that is already in place. Thanks

The RX-75 is the minor leagues, the STi-R is the major leagues. I used to run an SRX, which performs the same as the RX-75, but now run an Escort 9500ci that absolutely blows away my old SRX. The STi-R and the 9500ci use the same radar antenna and perform virtually the same.

Are you somewhere it needs to be "Spectre proof"? (invisible to the radar detector detectors?)

    Nowhere close to VA.

Cops here are pretty uncreative with radar and typically run CO at night. Don't have to contend with IO much at all. It's these guys at 3am that are getting on my nerves recently.
