    Default Detectors...

What radar detectors do you think that you could do 10-15 over easily with getting a good notice from your RD that isnt an X50, RX65, or a V1?

Escort Solo 2, STI, rx55, and just about any others on certain conditions. How much are you wanting to spend?

Here, well, any RD. 10-15 over you won't even begin to be noticed by a police officer. At 10-15 miles per hour over, well, you are still not even going to be noticed...

But in NYS, yeah, you need the best that money can buy :x

So i guess i shouldn't constantly average 88mph on my trips on the NYS thruways.......

In NY i am very comfortable with my set up and I am consistently doing 15-20 over the speed limit

today I went 90 for 4miles.....traffic around me was doing 80-85

But keep in mind you need a laser jammer if you'd like to go crazy speeds

The cheapest I would go for a detector in NY is the BEL V995($270)

    Spoiler: show

The vector 995 would be a good one.

On the Thruway, keep a CB, high-end RD and a good laser jammer. Just an RD like a V995, I'd go 80-85 gros max in the zones with high visibility, and coast down to 75 relatively often.

It's a damn shame honestly, those are some excellent high-speed roads over there, very well taken care of, wide lanes, wide shoulders, open spaces, long acceleration ramps, if it weren't for the damn police everywhere you could average 250km/h from Montreal to NYC!

with laser and instant on, even with my setup i am scared to speed. i tend to speed when there are more cars on the road.

when i am the only one on the road i only go 5 over.

if i absolutely have to speed.... at most 19 over. some cops HAVE to give you a ticket for 20 over. under that... you have a chance of a warning

I usualy run about 10-30 MHP over the Speed Limit (If I know the area well) Maybe more than that in certian areas of the roads.

If I don't know the area well, I'll run about 10-20 MPH over the limit untill I get an idea of how the leos use their radar guns.

Using my X50. Instant On is a major concern, but using a detector, scanner, and scanning the road with your eyes are all good prevenitave measures. Looking for reflective letters, logos, cars slowing, brake lights, ect.

Fully marked security vehicles can really make me hit the brakes fast too! Damn them!
