Anybody recognise this radar?

In Spain there are appearing a few of these radars over the country. The espcial thing about them is that they work on the 35.5GHz frecuency which was not present in Europe.

They are photo-radar with an infrared flash.

They all have in common that they are installed in overhead signs, and consist of these three "tubes" which I suppose one is the camera, one is the flash, and another may be the radar gun.
But also on the side of the road by the sign on which its installed there are two white cabins like in the picture (the other two are for a led sign in that place).

I cannot find which model this is. Stalker, Decatur, Kustom have radars in the 35,5GHz but they don't match. Gatso doesn't have anything like this. They have recently homologised a EYP-SCAP RAI-2002 radar in thelegislation but its suposed to be specific for tunel speed enforcement thogh this is our bets bet since we have heard it works in 35,5GHz.

I was wondering, does anyone recognise this radar?

looks like SPECS point to point radar.

Takes a photo at point A then a few miles don the road takes another one and times you....if u r faster than the allowed time you are BUSTED!!

Are you sure it is radar and not loop...sure the freq is coming from that unit?

It does looks like the SPECS indeed. But we have a SPECS in Madrid undergoing testing and its not the same. The SPECS ANPR cameras here are square and of course there are in pairs (the second one further down the road) and no radar emision.

This is a single overhead fixed photo-radar unit and they all emit in 35,5GHz everywere they are installed.

Truvelo type was descarted, since there was no work done on the road surface, no induction loops at any of the sites and emits radar.

Can't figure out what that downpointing camera is in the middle, can a radar work at such a strong angle? the one on the left seems like the infrared flash unit since there is a faint orange blink when a car passes by in excess speed. So the right one must be the camera since ist pointed in the same direction as the flash.

I personally believe the radar unit itself may be in one of the cabins on the side of the road since the box is pcb type plastic not metal. And it doesn't need any opening since the camera and flash are located overhead. Its a good way to hide the radar unit from vandalism.

There are a number of companies in Europe which supply enforcement equipment.

One such company which has been around for a long time is the following,

Very few know anything about this set up. It is very sofisticated.

Research the site as there is much to learn!

Unfortunately in Spain we are very familiar with Sodi Scientifica and their Autovelox. We have 44 of these and its not only indetecable (their latest model 105SE is, the previous 104 was detecatble because it used RF comunicaion between the CPU and the unit which could be picked up by a device, but the 105SE use cables so as not to be detected anymore), but its also un-jammable. So there is nothing you can do against the Autovelox.

The one on the page you listed is their fixed cabin version, we have one of these, but the problem are the tripod version. They can ve placed anywere on the side of the road or even in the back seat of a camo car pointing out the side window.

The function is similar to the Octospeed device.

It can control up to 3 lanes of traffic, day or night, and can detect on which lane the infractor vehicle is and shoots two pictures of the car, one close up with the licence plate, and another with a wider angle to place it within its sorrounding traffic.

Its only drawbacks is that it cannot be used while in motion, and cannot be used in overhead pass, it has to be on the side of the road.

Just to keep you guys updated, its confirmed, the radar is a RAI-2002 by the EYP-SCAP company. The reason nobody could recognise it is that this is a spanish traffic company and this their first radar :?

More info:
- It works in 35,5GHz band,
- the are static radars
- placed in cabins on the side of the road or in overhear signs
- they control only one lane
- they work up to only 200km/h
- worth about 100,000Euros installed

What beats me is why they bought a batch of 32 of these pieces of crap radars when the Multanovas are cheaper and superior in all aspects... somebody made some money...
