Default I just got a Whistler SRT-35R...is it any good?

I just got a Whistler SRT-35R for Christmas. How does this thing perform? Should I take it back to Radio Shack and get another one?

    I'd rather have a Bel 795...

Good for the 10 over type. Beyond that, i'd look at something better.

Better than nothing. Just don't be too cocky and think it will save you in every situation.

Do you drive a firebird??? It is too bad a geo metro cannot be souped up to do a 100. Most officers would assume a radar malfunction.

You could easily top 100mi/h in a Swift GT (1,3 litre), you could probably stick in a 1,6 litre from a Esteem and maybe bolt a small turbocharger to it. 130mi/h Geo! 8)

You'd need much better tires than those little 145-SR12 tires though! Your tire width at the road is like 4,5 inches

My personal interest would be a Mazda wankel motor, probably a 13B turbo from a late-80's RX7, or maybe the one from the 1990's RX-7 - 255hp twin turbo Geo, that motor would fit nice under the stock hood too 8)

    I have a Red 1998 V6 Firebird (daily driver) and a Black 2000 WS6 Trans Am 6spd (weekend driver).

So what radar/laser detectors would you'all recommend and for what price? So far my whistler is doing decent...It has picked up 3 out of 4 city cops and it has failed to pick up a trooper (he must have had is gun turned off?)

Escort 8500 x50 about $300, Beltronics Pro Rx65 $330, Valentine 1 $400. Anything other than those are crap, or close to it. Those 3 are the only ones you should look at (unless u are really looking for a ticket) Yeah they might cost a pretty penny, but it'll save u thousands!!!!!!!!!!!!
