Needing radar for tomorrows trip less than $250 MAX to spend

A friend asked me for advice for a radar detector she is going to need for a trip from TX to Iowa. She doesnt have alot of time to shop or money.
i would of course tell her a V1 is great but she cant get one of those.

Do you guys have any suggestions for a radar you can get at Say circuit City or BB. She was looking at a whisler not sure of the model. You advice will be much appreciated

best buy for a Passport X50

there is a restocking fee if you want to return it.... they may have returned items fo cheaper

Give Roy a call about a Bel 995 and overnight shipping. Another option is a Bel Vector 895 at Radio Shack, you can run it in city mode with X band disabled if you don't need X detection.

The 995 might be a better choice, Crazyvolvorob likes his a lot. Call Roy and see what deal he can work for you on a Bel 995.

Both of these detectors will provide a lot better range than the Whistlers.

man if u want it real fast go to CC they have a sell on the vector995 $179 brand new i was :shock: when i saw the price i kinda want one for meslef but then again i want to try out the bel rx/65 seems alot of folks here love the usa ka mode and i want to see for my self how good this unit is on ka band on usa ka. some say you get more false alerts i really would not like that at all tho i have had my x50 over 1 month now and never once i have recived a ka false alert never! only PoP FALSE BUT NOT ON REGULAR KA ALERT AND THAT IS A BIG A+ SO FAR

Get a Vector 995, or 965 from Circuit City :wink:

Vector 895 from RS is a good choice as well.

Sometimes truckstops carry Bel or Escort units, that's a possibility. I've seen the vector 995 at TA travelcenter before.

the only problem is with a vector 895 u will get to many false alerts but other than that is a very good rd :wink: i allways got very long range on KA band K band was nuts it has super range :wink:

the reason i say pick the v995 it may be better on the PoP mode false alerts lets see what Rob thinks?
