Default Strong K-Band False From a Mercedes

The signal from this AMG was so strong that at one point my bogey counter registered a count of 3. This was on a surface street, so I know his Cruise Control wasn't activated (although it may have been turned on).

Dang, I hate these new cars and their stupid annoying gadgets.

i'm guessing lane departure warning, or depending on how new the merc is (distronic ii added the ability to bring the car to a complete stop) he had his distronic on as well.

we had my old rx-65 in my dads s500 and it didn't like it whenever we got close behind another car with the distronic on

I wonder if a working radar jammer would cause these cars to wreck!

It is Mercedes' Distronic cruise control broadcasting K band radar. Most manufacturers now offer these radar based systems as an option in their luxury vehicles. To add to the problem they all seem to be broadcasting constantly, not only when the cruise is active, and they cannot be deactivated or unplugged without causing error messages to be displayed.

Someone needs to invent a device that will fool these Distronic things into thinking a collision is imminent so they will lock up the car's brakes. That way at least I could clear these losers out of the passing lane when they are blocking it.

Is there just no way for manufacturers to implement all these fancy pants systems in a manner that won't interfere with radar detectors?

The fact that the culprits tend to be brands who fancy themselves as "drivers' cars" really burns my ass.

At least it's not on a very common car, if it were on Fords or Chevys K band RD would be useless.

    We can all dream.
Everyone using Ka would be nice, things like TrueLock would be useless, and everyone would run a V1 with X and K turned off.
I'd take the Ka over LIDAR, as I believe in the future things like our LIs will be banned.

I think the auto makers that keep adding the radar into their vehicles are shooting themselves in the foot. How long before their top clients start complaining that they can't use their $1000+ radar detector. That alone should push them to at least make a kill switch.
