In ALL HONESTY the best thing to do is turn off POP on the RX65 and the X50. The protection is definately proven but the false alarms make it unusable. Anyway there is a HIGH chance that POP is not even used in your area especially since laser is gaining popularity

I have an RX-65 and experienced POP false alarms too. Most of these I determined were from other radar detectors. For example, I tried to do a head to head comparison between the RX-65 and my old Cobra unit. It was impossible as the Cobra caused the POP alert to go off on the RX-65 every few seconds. I still chose to leave POP enabled just in case. Fortunately, I did because cruising along the interstate in NC I got a POP alert. I chose not to ignore the warning and slowed down just in case even though I was passing several vehicles that could have had detectors. A few short moments later, I was hit with Ka from a well-hidden highway patrol officer in the median. My guess is that the unit while scanning caught the tail-end of a "instant on" pulse and reported it as POP. I am not aware of any POP guns in NC at all so I doubt it was a real POP hit. I usually get 1 to 2 POP alert from cars that I see with detectors inside each week.

I have seen people with the detector dead in the middle of the windshield with power cord hanging a lot. I have also been behind cars at night and seen their radar detector on the brightest setting falsing around supermarkets and other stores with door openers. Walking through a lot of parking lots, I see a lot of detectors in cars too. I live in a rural area and many people drive fast so they have radar detectors. Crime is not so bad so people leave detectors up on their windshields all the time.

When I'm rolling back to NC down I-95 I leave mine up until I get home, then I lock it up. In VA I put it up at night on DARK setting and go with the tones. I never put it up during the day but I do use it.

The kleenex box is a good idea, but my dash won't support it unless I use velcro. Too tacky (looking)

In one vehicle I use duct tape to dash then put a rag over unit preferably the same color as the dash. Radar passes right through it. Baseball cap is another idea.

I've done the ballcap trick when I rolled up on a SHP. It worked pretty good, but to have the cap there all the time on the dash of a MAX would look kinda suspiscious, you think?

Funny you should say this but my uncle had an old Fuzzbuster back in the day underneath a kleenex box on the dash with a kleenex coming out of the top so it looked real.
