    Default X-Band Question

Does anybody know if any law enforcement agencies use X-Band in VA? Specifically any place from Roanoke going west. I'd like to turn this band off but I'd like some feedback first. Thanks in advance...SpeedyJ

X-band is still in use all over from MD to VA to NC. I would not recommend turning off X-band

X band is not used in VA. I have never come accross it and I drive all over VA. And the State police website only has guidelines for K and Ka when it comes to radar use in the commonwealth.

In VA they use K, KA, Laser, Ground Vascar(rare), Pacing(especially at night), Aircraft Vascar.

The only exception is the U.S. Park Police (a federal agency) patrolling the GW Parkway near DC in VA. Roy says that some Park Police still use X band. I'm not sure if the Park Police in that area have X band or not, but I have been on that road and never come across it.

I'm in as close proximity as anyone wants to be and believe me VA DOES have X-band. Fairfax Co for sure and I've come across a couple VASHPs down south close to I-95/I-295 heading back into NC. The US Park Police do have X also. I've scanned the park area near the Pent. a couple times and come across a USPP sitting in a viewing/rest area.

And I keep the RX65 set on Auto-scan

Fairfax county patrol cars are not equipt with radar....... Only the motorcycle Fairfax county police have radar and it is Ka band. Fairfax cars use laser or pacing, thats it unless you run into a bike cop then Ka.

VA does not use X band.

Here is a list of ALL approved radar equipment VA law enforcement can use. If it's not on the list they can't use it. As you will see, no X band.
