    Default Replace 9500ix with V1

I read everything available about these 2 radars. Both test well and both have devotees. Although, there the V1 seems to be the favorite around these forums. I have thought about getting the V1 but drive in metro Houston all the time. I don't want the V1 falsing constantly. The overall conclusions seems to be: get 9500ix for the city and V1 for the highway.

    Further thoughts?

That pretty much sums everything up. There are a ton of falses in Metro Houston so if you plan on getting the V1, I'd stick with the 9500ix for in town driving. When you venture out onto I-10 or plan on a long trip across or out of state, then I'd break out the V1.

Thanks for the advice/confirmation. I was thinking of buying the V1 for my wife's X5, since that's the one we drive on trips.

I'd say your jammer is much more important than your detector in Houston, so a 9500 isn't a bad way to go in the city. It's once you get out on the open highway that you want to have a V1 running.

There are ways to really quiet down a V1, but none of them would be particularly recommended in Houston, where every band is in use.

Thanks. Although, I don't believe X band is used in Houston metro; just K and Ka. I think there are outlying areas in Greater Houston area where X may be used (e.g., Spring).

Btw, where do you get the signature banners (V1, Escort, etc.) that you have? Maybe I should know, but I don't.

Ah, well I always considered all of Harris County to be "Houston Metro", lol. We've heard of some southern suburb and some Constables using X band though.

Heck, you can do that in Arlington too, during rush hour, or after a Rangers game!

That is what I have is the ix and love it because I do a lot of city driving but some outside but the ix is good. If I had the money I will have to get the v1 I will be doing some traveling this summer but before I do that I think that I will go with a laser jammer.
