First off don't laugh, I picked up a RMR C-302 for my wife to use temporarily (cost nearly nothing and I have good radar detectors still packed away somewhere from when we were moving so I wanted to spend the least amount possible). Since I paid next to nothing for this device I figured I'd give it a road test in place of my usual V1, figured it would be an interesting drive.
The thing doesn't false much at all. Probably due to low sensitivity. Seemed to give ample warning of real K band alerts but no where near the V1 range. Drove by your usual door openers without so much as a peep.
Most interestingly I went to the mall with the thing mounted on the dash. I pull into a parking spot and the thing is going wild with a Ka band alert. Sitting on the windshield right across from me in the other car? Nothing other than a Cobra.
When I got home I put the V1 on in the other car and the RMR falsed like no tomorrow for Ka band. Maybe it doesn't like other radar detectors. I ran across nothing other than actual K band out on the drive today though, of which it seemed to give ample warning. Still was rather surprised at the Ka band falses from other detectors. I can see the Cobra leaking quite a bit but the V1 was a bit more suprising.
I guess the thing was worth $5. Can't say I'd spend more. Might outperform some older detectors. The Bel which will eventually replace it, wherever it is, is a better unit, hopefully I'll finish unpacking one of these days.
