Ran into one for the first time the other day. Was coming up 81N in PA. I don't remember what mile marker or town I was near. Someone texted me or something, I needed to look at my phone for some reason so I slowed down and started changing lanes to get behind the cars I had previously been passing. As I'm changing lanes we start going under an overpass and the 9500ix alerts to K band for a second and then goes silent. Luckily at this point I'm only doing 70. As we come out from the overpass literately a moment later I see PSP sitting perpendicular to the road using the end of the overpass as a hiding place and shooting us from the rear. STi-R alerts as he shoots us and the 9500ix is silent.
I got lucky.
Reasons my STi-R didn't go off? well K band is still ****ed up on it for one, as evidenced by videos aa2033, radarrob, and Speedup helped me with. Also could have been mounting position, my STi-R is mounted real low and the 9500ix is at the top of the windshield. I will be looking into a way to move it to a higher position. And it could possibly have been interference from the 9500ix.
I can't know which caused it but I'm going to try and fix each one. EscortRadar is helping me setup another repair (its already been in once to fix the K band issue) and he has promised to personally test it himself. (Awesome customer service! Thanks friend) Like I said I'm looking into a way to mount the antenna higher, nine_c1 made a post awhile ago that I can't find atm but he explained how having an antenna mounted low to the ground can cause problems since reflections from that close to the ground can be interpreted as falses and filtered out by the detector. (it was way more complicated than that, nine_c1 knows his ****) And I won't be running the 9500ix on the highway in PA anymore, especially since they're getting alot more of those guns.
Those of us in PA need to start using trapster more, it may end up being a better defense against these damn things.
