I've been reading the blogs and I'm getting a mixed consensus on which RD to purchase. I drive an equal amount in the city and highway.
The two is between the Escort 9500ix or the V1 + Cheetah C100.

I would go with the V1 and the Cheetah C100, you can't go wrong.
Tough one with that type of V1 set up, both are great on highway and city.
9500ix is a great all in one RD and very intuitive. V1 with its situational awareness and C100 for the features needed nowadays.
V1 with C100 is a great combo, just doesn't have false lock outs. If that's ok theirs your decision.
Yep, that is the big difference between the two. There are pros and cons to each set-up. Range is neck and neck between the two, with the V1 having a slight edge. But that edge isn't because of sensitivity. It's because the V1 processes the signal faster, giving you an earlier alert while the 9500 is still trying to decide if it's a false alert or not. That's a great thing on the highway, and often the only detector that will save you in an I/O area. But it can drive you nuts in an urban route, where you may want to lock out falses. The deciding factor is really going to be how delicate your ears are.
I'm not familiar with cop tactics in IL, but there seems to be a lot less I/O up north than in the South, so you may be in luck, if quietness is your key criteria.

V1
Well I thought I had it figured out with the V1 and Cheetah combo. Found out that the C100 is discontinued and majority of the stores online shows "out of stock". So I may be stuck on getting the 9500ix for the city and V1 for highway.
