Default 9500ci Almost Perfect Except For.... Making it Worst Detector?

I enjoy gadgets as much as the next guy but I dislike having them cluttering up the inside of my car or have wires everywhere. I also enjoy the challenge of trying to making everything look OEM as possible. So naturally I'm attracted to Escorts 9500ci, here's how see it when trying to weight the pros and cons. At firt glance the decision would seem to outweight the cons making the decision simple.

    Pros
    - Similar performance as 9500ix
    - Stealth install
    - Gps learning/ warning
    - Detector & Jammer integration
    - Ease or install for laser heads (compared to competition)

    Cons
    - Built in jammers which are 50/50% effective
    - Considerably more wiring then standard detector
    - Initial Price

I don't mind wiring and the initial price may be high but you're going to pay $1200-ish+ for most highend detectors and jammers in the end anyway. That leave only one real con on the list that matters. Looks like a runaway decision... Not so fast!

$1200 would be justifiable if the jammers actually worked, unfortunately it's like spending double for an 9500ix just because. In my opinion the 9500ci detector is perfect!!! With Escort packaging the jammers with it, now it's the most flawed detector out there.

Why didnt Escort offer this seperately instead of a package? Then customers could purchase in stages making it now more attractive to those who are on a budget or who want different jammers. The way I see it is that 1/2 a sale is better then no sale at all. How incredibly frustrating!

Escort is trying to penetrate the market with their inferior jammers so they bundled it up with a halfway descent product like the 9500ci

Its still a perfect detector just not a good jammer.

The jammers don't increase the price dramatically, especially if your getting it for 1200. Its almost like buying a RedLine and 9500ix and getting an OEM custom look with the awesome laser sensitivity for free.

The value is the package, the more you pack into a product the more value is perceived, even if its not the best. Its allso not that the jammers don't work, its that they don't compete with the better jammes and techniques used today.

Escort should provide a 9500ci without the jammers for those that don't need/want them. But like most company's they try to market a whole package for the masses, and that doesn't always fit the enthusiasts needs.

As a side not the 9500ci performance is much better than the 9500ix.

God I wish the 9500ci came without these crappy jammers.

I much rather have a choice in jammer heads, than be tied to outdated technology.

Other than that, I really like the concept of a 9500ci. - just the jammer heads and the high price because of them make this a dealbreaker for me now.

The shifters are better then 50/50 if you have them put in correct!!!!

Forget about the rear tho... I do have a $500.00 plus save with them going 95+

X2, it depends on what lidar guns your up against. I'm very happy with mine, but there are (like everything else in life) things that preform better when customized to the individuals needs.

Hopefully Escort will come out with better jammers in the near future.

I don't think Escort will anytime soon ....look how long it took them to change to zr4's and pretty much the same thing as zr3's

It's pretty good at radar detection, that's is about it. Ramp up sucks, but still a great detector. I would go with the Redline or V1, and Blinder or LI jammers. 90% of the time if you are going over 15mph the PSL you'll probably get pinched with Lidar using the ZR4 jammers...one person on here has a rear lidar ticket to prove it.

not correct I take 15mph+ over laser hits each week ...As for the lidar dj was a rear hit and they are worthless for rear

Here's what kills me, they were sooo close to making this perfect. The brackets for the front heads are extremely nice. The way the rear head mounts on the plate really helps with ease of install and stealth. Maybe make a complete plate frame with more LEDs to help with rear coverage?

Like was mentioned already, I didn't mean they were only 50% effective, I meant it was a 50/50 gamble on what threat you may face from what gun which doesn't instill much confidence for the amount of time and effort spent. They only have to get lucky once.

Seems like most of the traps I encounter are from close range (300-600ft). If the punch through is often 400-500 ft (depending on all the variables) it doesn't leave me much time to compensate from the first detection which is a concern.
