Forget about even being seen with a detector.

Savvy officers target vehicles from the rear to see which ones hit the brakes - a dead give away to detector operation!

Or they just watch for rapid speed drops on the radar, or if they bother, a rapid change in the doppler audio. So if you drive where RDs are illegal, you have to adjust your driving habits and not hit the brakes when blasted with instant-on.

It is still good to be undetectable though. And you can mount the STi so it is hard to see from outside the car.

So true, Accessories for STI should come with a brake light cut off switch!

That sounds like Craig Peterson!

Just make sure no one is on your tail.

My primary interest in the new STI remains in its detection capability (esp. with laser) and advanced filtering.

Agreed, I thought it was just another detector with nothing really to offer me, but the speculation that it has even greater Ka possibly more than V1, well that caught my eyes. So tick tock, waiting to see what happens.

A good stealth install and a tint strip the thing really is invisible. Around the visor could be a garage door opener or above the visor its virtually impossible to detect

In the Toronto area many folks have a transponder or a parking slip mounted in the favoured area so its pretty easy to make the thing hard to see even mounted on the windshield

In hard core cases they can be placed further inside the auto as along as they have a view of the road. I wont mention any locations for this one

And yes coasting to slow down is preferred over braking but if it starts barking "Laser" I'm hiiting the brakes

The sad part is the STi is undetectable to Spectre but to the human eye at night the unit practically glows in the dark. The buttons on the front glow at night and when it's alerting to radar, the middle button blinks like a turn signal. (the blinking can be disabled in program mode.)

Who the *BEEP* makes an undetectable RD with glow in the dark buttons that blink when alerting and can be seen from almost half a mile away" :x :x :x Also, the STi minimum display is like an x50 (blue) at medium/maximum brightness.

LEO don't need Spectre at night. The STi is a night drivers dead giveaway.

Doesn't it have a "dark mode"? Every Bel and Escort detector I have ever used can be set for audio-only operation with only a small power-on indicator as a visual. I would probably use that at night even here in the states.

Does the STi have a smart plug accessory available? If yes, does it mute then lights on the main unit?

When I use my V1's remote display, the main unit goes totally dark.

Doesn't the STi have a "dark" mode?
