    will it say "newcomer" under my name for crying out loud?

    The forum software changes people title based on post count.

    The label below your name has nothing to do with how long you are a member. Just the number of post unless an admin assigns you a special label. I'm not a big fan of the labels. I think the quality of post is more important than how many.

    That is why I only have 50 or so post's in 7 months. I don't usually post unless I have something to say.

    It is unfortunate that the board status is based on how many postings you make, rather than actual knowledge or useful contribution to the discussion. Instead, a few people have a form of verbal diarrhea which shows up as frequent, inane postings.

    So, a "Lead Foot" or "Experienced" rating may mean that the person knows a lot about RDs, speed enforcement, etc. Or, they're just really good at using the mouse to click the reply button.

    I don't know that a better system exists, unless you have an admin who manually reads and ranks the usefulness of every post. Of course, this would open several cans of worms. Just keep reading. You'll learn who to read and who to ignore.
