    Default Indetectable radar detector?

    HI!

The last time i was on this forum was during the last summer.. I have work too mutch and i dont have a lot of time to go on the internet..

In the last summer, i was in ontario and a police officer as get my X50 radar detector.. He as detected my X50 with a sprectre..

So here is my question: Now, does any radar detector is undetectable by the spectre? And by all other radar detector detector? i wanna buy another one, but i dont want to loose it again because its detectable...

    Thanks!

You are talking about the new 'Bel STI'.

Do a search on this forum for 'STI' and you can get a ton of information on it as it has been a hot topic as of late:

Here are just some of the topics that will be pulled up:

The other day I just by chance came accross your post and read your story about that, wasn't it the one where the officers saw your RD on the dash while parked at the coffee shop and then followed you after you left to pull you over. The part where you said in french "I don't speak english, do you speak french?"

What happened at you court date if you don't mind me asking?

Yes the new Bel STi is what your looking for, but remember keep it off your dash and mount it very high so it is not seen. Don't want to go through that again.

Yes you have read the right stories.. it was verry funny to tell to an officer: "i dont speak english, do you speak french" - i have say that with a verry big french accent!

Anyway.. i have not go to the court, because it was in ontario and i dont had the money to go there,, but i have receive no ticket at all, and absolutely no paper from the court.. nothing..

I dont know why, but i have not go to the court, and i have received no news....

You might not like Quebecers but you don't have to give WRONG, unprofessional advice to them, ok?
This STI you people are so much talking about is a CORDED RD, and any power cord, even one little inch of it, can very easily make you an open target for any off-duty LEO waiting beside you at a traffic light... got it now??????????
And about that "keep it off your dash and mount it very high so it is not seen", since I mounted my brand-new XM sat radio right by the rear view mirror EVERYBODY is looking at it, day or night, so why a small RD, in your view, might not get the same attention as a small sat radio gets all the time :?:
And also very, very important, mounting your RD high you almost eliminate any chance of LASER alerts, you don't care of laser, you're free to mount it as high as you want...
So, try to give proper advice that will work for those people who are asking for... and btw, have you ever lived and/or driven (with an RD) in a jurisdiction (Ont/Quebec) that CONFISCATE them on the spot, do you have any real-life strategy on how to successfully operate an RD, getting all out of it (so far I got 3/3 successfull alerts, 2 laser and 1 K, but I keep my fully concealed S2 on the dash) and still nobody knowing what a hell you have in that "something" on your dash :?:

Actually thats not corect-- a high mount gives you a better chance of a scatter shoot the more sensitive your laser detector the higher it shoud be

    Thanks everybody for your help..

But i only need a radar detection, I already have a blinder M-40 installed on my car so there is no laser problem at this time...

The radar roy web site say that i can PRE-ORDER the radar detector, does anybody know when this RD is suposed to be ready for shipping?

I have a V1 as everyone is aware of at this point? On the POWER CORD issue. It can be threaded so it can be hidden and I do not see that as a problem?

So as to the MOUNTING I would recommend mounting HIGH! The issue on laser detection has been addressed in a thread above.

I agree with Road Warrior for a stealthy situation, I drive a bobtail for work and duct tape it to dash with a rag over it, lighter plug is my preference over direct wire across the dash as if I get into a situation that I have to loose it, I just grab everything and ditch it! You can't be reaching for the ceiling when LEO is there and defiantly can't use a cord from lighter to ceiling in any situation as that is asking to get pulled over.
For prying eyes next to me all is needed is a slight pulling of the rag over the front to cover lights.
I don't feel RDD is a threat where I am but if I did I would have a cheap throw away to give them or maybe mount a cheap up high to show them at pull over.
