Default Who will file the patent first?

I have no idea if this has been posted or asked before, but first I will start by describing what this post is about.

I have no idea how patents work as far as filing one and I don't know if when a patent expires for, say, Coca-Cola, if the same company can file the exact same patent once the original expires.

With that said, the V1 directional radar detection technology patent was filed on February 25, 1991, and accepted/issued in January 21, 1992. I also know that a usual patent expires on it's 20th birthday.

Now, who do you think will be the first company to re-patent this technology? Me, being a Whistler fan, vote for and wish that it's Whistler. Everyone else has a "21st Century innovation", Beltronics/Escort have the GPS, and so does Cobra, so in all fairness, hopefully Whistler would get it.

Thanks for reading, and I can't wait to see the poll results.

Once the patent expires, it's over. Nobody needs to "re-patent" it.

Once it is expired it is fair game, even Mike Churchman can come up with something for his KAT detectors (god forbid)

The poll should be "what radar detector company will be the 1st to come on the market with dual antennas and arrows

I think it will be escort because of sufficient funding and potential profit of the design.
Although they will never beat VR on customer service...

Escort, BUT even if they put arrows and a second antenna, the performance better be better than the V1, if not I won't buy it. AND it better not suck major ass in picking up I/O an Q/T like the 9500...

    GPS, we don't need it

Perhaps you meant to ask "who will be the first to add arrows to their products?"

    I say Belscort.
