Default Trying to decide: Escort 9500ix Vs Escort Redline Vs Valentine 1

    Hello there all,

New here but I've been reading quite a bit of reviews on radars and comparative articles for the devices i have listed that I'm considering. My brother currently has a Valentine One and it has saved him and me a few times yes indeed but I want to look around a bit and see if there is a better option or if thats top choice.

Primary reason why?: I need some protection after getting hit with a speeding ticket on the grand central parkway recently.

Location: Long Island, NY (Valley Stream)
My plan: Radar Detector + Laser Jammer + (Maybe still need to do research, Veil)
My car: 06 Audi A4 in Black.
Type of driving I do: I have to say its 50/50. City and highway(s) such as Long Island Expressway, Southern State Parkway, Cross Island Parkway, Grand Central Parkway, sometimes it feels like i do more city than highway but other times its the other way around. I do occasional trips out of state for vacation or events and such.

    Considering (no particular order)
    1. Escort 9500ix
    2. Escort Redline
    3. Valentine One

Now I have seen many people run two radars and I have actually considered this down the road.(Can't justify spending about 1k on just radars at the beginning as i want jammers next in-line) It will be definitely hardwired into my car so no dangling wire from cigarette lighter, and whichever unit I get I will also want to integrate the remote control thing.

Can anybody send out some suggestions on what the better choice for me would be? Seems like many run Valentine one
Right now I want to focus on radar detectors as part of my protection setup. Then come the jammers, and the rest.

    Thanks in advance!

Go V1. It can be noisy in the city, but with the right programming options that not a major problem.

V1. If you're planning on getting a second/remote RD in the future, the V1 will be a perfect partner.

V1 I've been running it for 3 years in the city and it works insanely well. I'm replying to your PM now.

I too had this exact problem myself. First I wanted V1, then found the 9500ix, then did research on the Redline.

Basically I found out the Redline and V1 compare very nicely. They're both all out detectors with maximum sensitivity. But I wanted GPS which neither offered. BUT you can add Escort GPS to the Redline by buying the Passport SC55 gps unit. The V1 can have GPS as well using a Cheetah GPS. So now we've got all three in the same ball park now it's down to a few other options/reviews. Most anything I've read, the V1 and Redline are more sensitive than the 9500ix; futhermore, the V1 will beat the Redline for quick trigger (QT) encounters but everything else the Redline seems to be onpar with or beat out the V1. I thought the 9500ix with auto false lock out was cool, until I re-evaluated what I wanted and I'd rather have a false positive alert than a positive that didn't alert (which is highly unlikely but non the less a consideration). I also live in a small centre (aprox 15 000 people) so I don't expect many false alerts. Further down my consideration list is the fact that more and more places are outlawing radar detectors and the V1 and 9500ix can both be picked up with radar detector detectors (yes the 9500ix is Spectre 2 invisible, but the detector detector tech is now a lot more advanced than that). SOOOO for me, the small benefit of the V1 having the arrows and bogey counter and better quick trigger detection are far outweighed by the Redline having fewer false positives, totally invisible to RDD (radar detector detectors) at the moment, better off axis detection (can't recall what frequency that is). Also V1 doesn't seem to update much of anything unless pushed to do so. Escort has.

If I was driving a lot in a big city, I think the 9500ix would be the best, but personally, I'm out in the prarie with a lot more highway driving so I wanted the maximum detection range possible which is offered by V1 or Redline.

So as soon as I can secure a resonable price from a reputable dealer, a Redline with SC55 will be in my truck.

Research and figure out what you really need/want in a detector. I find youtube helpfull to compare models.

Also, running multiple detectors in the same vehicle is supposed to be a no no. They may interfer with each other and cause a loss of sensitivity and/or slower scan rate. http://www.guysoflidar.com/twodetectors.html

I own a 9500ix, a V1 and an STi-R that uses the same M3 platform as the Redline.

The 9500ix is probably the best bet for you. It's good at everything (accept quick trigger) and great at nothing. It also offers cam protection that the others don't.

If quick trigger is a concern in your area of travel, the V1 and a separate cam device would be the way to go.

If you want the third best RD then go with the IX but if you want the best windshield RD then you will have to go with the V1 or the Redline. If you are wanting Range then you better by-pass the IX because it is know where near the other two. If you don't believe me then go to GOL and look at there Test Results.

Look into Remote detectors, otherwise stick with V1 or RedLine. For a laser jammer look into LI or Blinder. Go to RadarBusters.com and get a great price on it. I think they're still doing a V1 LI combo.
