I seem to recall that Mr. Valentine was the lead engineer and a principal of Cinncinnati Microwave way back when the original Escort was developed and introduced. Didn't he leave that company and later found Valentine Research after honoring the terms of his no compete agreement? There were of course other/earlier attempts at building/marketing radar detectors, but as I recall the Escort was heads and shoulders above the rest, performance-wise until the V-1 was introduced. I have no doubt that someone will correct me if I am wrong...
