    Default Ka band warning?

Do the high end RD's give false warnings on Ka band? One store near where I live gives me a warning of Ka band when I am on the road(a 2 or 3 reading) but when I drive close to the door the reading goes up to 9!! :!:
so my question is do Some doors use Ka band frequency or my inexpensive RD is going nuts :?:

DO you think that the low end RD's alter the frequency reading? Or they are unable to distinguish between one frequency from another?
I think that door does work on Ka frequency.

I have never had a Ka false with my X50 or RX65.

My Pro58 would Ka false on other driver's Cobra radar detectors, and also on X band in the area. (3rd harmonic of X = Ka)

Its most likely your inexpensive detector

Whistler especially are known for mis-indentifying K-Band sources as Ka, other cheap detectors might do it too.

Ihave a $100 radioshack RD it identifies the K,X bands near that store but goes full strength near that door(ka).

So are you guys saying that no door as yet uses Ka band width for door openers? Is there a way to check the frequency of this door?

I don't think you would get harmionics produced in the Ka band that a detector would alert to, unless the motion sensor was WAY off freq. More than likely, it is somehow crappy signal processing by the detector.

I don't beleive there are any Ka door openers since the cost would be more. K band openers are pumped out in such volume that keeps them a lower cost item, and the other reason is I dont know if the FCC licensing has allowed that use or not.

    Doors do not use Ka.

I have had my old Bel985 for 3 years, never a false Ka.

You my friend have something seriously wrong with your RD or it is a very crappy RD. As someone said the X band may be misinterreted as Ka on your RD. Don't know if you can or would make a difference turn X band off.
