    Default FLIR

If police were to use FLIR for speed trap, would it be detectable? Or is FLIR used with some other equipments such as photo radar (rear capture)

FLIR is simply an optical system for better "vision." As far as I know it would have no value in speed detection. Its value would be more in finding hidden suspects etc.

umm, the day the police bring out the FLIR for speed traps will be the day I stop driving at night. I can see it now - the police buy retired apaches from the army - use the FLIR, and the laser range finders... If you try and run they'll just lock on with non-lethal plastic bullets and destroy your car

So does that means that there is no such thing as having FLIR as an aid for speed trap at night as I've read from some other forums?

Maybe for an airborne vascar thing. But with FLIR I don't think they could identify the car enough (colour, make model) to relay that to the chase car.

Hi Stalker thanks for the info. So now I can confidently drive knowing that without flash on a non-lighted highway, it is not possible to have license plates captured. :P
