How is it possible !!

Hello everybody !

Unfortunately I received 2nd speeding ticket in past 6 months few days ago For past 2 or so years I've been running Beltronics 965 and it's been serving great.

1st ticket happened when I was going down VERY steep hill and dam cop was at the very bottom of it hiding behind car which made it nearly impossible to see him. In addition, basterd was using POP or QT so I saw him exact moment he pressed the trigger and my radar screamed. Fat basterd gave me ticket for full value without giving any break whatsoever...


2nd ticket that I received few days ago is what made me really mad. It was raining pretty decently and roads were wet. I was not driving much higher than speed limit. So then about quarter mile or so I see a cop sitting on side of the highway FACING same direction as me. As I was getting closer I could see that he started moving and I had gut feeling that he will go after me. Guess what? He did pull me over and gave me a ticket. When I asked him how in the world did he radar me if he was facing the other direction and whether he used radar or laser he mumbled: "I used radar. We also have ability to catch speed of multiple vehicles at a time". "I also don't have to explain you anything. Just sign this ticket"


So here are my questions:

1. I have NEVER seen cops sit on the highway facing the same direction as traffic to catch speeders. Usually they sit perpendicular or facing opposite direction as you... How did he catch me? Was he sitting there whole time turning his body 180degrees and hanging out the window?
2. The very strange thing is that my Beltronics 965 NEVER went off. Usually if detector doesn't give you advanced warning they will still BEEP the exact same second when cop is blasting you head-on? Is this not right?
3. So I've been happy for the past 2 years with my 965. Do you guys think it's crap and it's worth upgrading to V1?

The thing is that I live in TN and there are not many cops around my city and neighborhood. So I am thinking it would be kinda wasting of $ if I buy best RD..

You might have got Quick triggered by a Stalker dual radar antennas. The antennas can be on swivels and swung around 360 degrees. The rear antenna probably smoked you

Most cops have no idea that laser is not radar, they use the term interchangeably. I have seen cops shoot lidar off the side view mirror also.

The new radar systems have 2 antennas, one facing forward and one facing rear. They can clock 4 different cars at the same time, coming at them on the forward antenna, going away on the forward antenna, coming at them on the rear antenna and going away on the rear antenna.

Most LEOs have two radar antennas. One is positioned in the front of their vehicle (allowing them to clock traffic in front of them) and one is in the rear (allowing them to traffic behind them). He clocked you with his rear radar antenna. This is a common tactic by LEOs:

Unless your detector is busted, it sounds to me like the LEO beat you with a tactic called quick-trigger:

You may need too if quick-trigger and instant-on is being used in your area. Also, if you are seeing LEOs parked perpendicular to the road, it also sounds to me like laser is being used in your area as well.

They can clock your speed in 100-200ms and almost at every angle and direction. Your Bel and most Escorts have a reaction processing time of 700ms and higher. V1 and Whistler 100-500ms. I would upgrade to a V1.

Alright. Thanks for such quick reply guys. Didn't really expect to get answers so fast Ehh.. Well I guess it's better to upgrade then. I bought my Bel for like $60 2 years ago (i think it was Amazon price mistake tho). So 2 tickets already costed me $300 while V1 is only $400..

Does V1 have authorized resellers? Will they still cover warranty if I buy one on Ebay? (new)

Call them up tomorrow and ask for any returned units. They are $360 with one year warranty, working perfectly with all accessories.

Valentine does not have resellers and I doubt they will honor a warranty if bought off Amazon.
