OK all here it goes. I live in a small rural town in Utah where I know most of the public safety types so I really refrain from breaking the local ordinances. (The old you don't s**t where you eat). So most of my "redline" driving is done on the open highway between my town and Salt Lake City...a distance of about 175 miles, which using my RD I can usually make in a little over 2 hours. And I don't speed in the city because it's just plain foolish. So my need is for a RD that gives superior long range Ka detection.
On my drives I have felt (a subjective feeling of course) that I could use a little more sensitivity on the Ka side of things (my RD goes off and then a few seconds later I come across the public safety type) so I enabled POP, which according to Escort would increase the Ka sensitivity. The sensitivity was increased all right, it increased the amount of false alarms as well as false POP alerts which is not used in Utah, and I don't feel that I'm getting any increased Ka range. And I am getting real tired of doing a 360 degree scan to find out where the radar is when the RD goes off.
Sooooo after reading this forum, others, and talking with Valentine, I have decided to make the plunge and try out the V1. Why? Well for one, after viewing the internal photos on this forum, I like the idea of the dual horns of the V1, the enabled 2 band POP, hopefully increased Ka sensitivity, the magnesium case which according to V1 " ... serves as a vault to keep out various electrical interferences from other devices", Ku available, and I really want to try out the arrows. lol!
There you have it...I will keep you all posted as to my "subjective" feelings about my new V1, and please, please be gentle with me!
