    Default My review...Redline vs V1

So i know a lot of ppl always ask "V1 or Redline". I know MANY ppl will not agree with what I say. Im just gonna post my personal opinions on each detector...here we go...

Well let me start out by saying my first detecotor 5 months ago was a Beltronics RX-65. I paid about $250 out the door new. I was an okay radar detector. Great for a first time user. But not for me. I didnt like the male voice or the "plastic" feel. I knew I needed something with better performance.

    REDLINE -
I got my Redline in late October. The unit is VERY solid and HEAVY (comapared to the V1). I can say IMO that the window mount sucks. It bounches off the windshield all the time. Kinda scary since it is a $500 unit. I like the spoken alerts and the ability to EASILY operate it. I also like the different displays and the auto brightness. Overall performance wise its AMAZING...no issues there And its invisible

    VALENTINE ONE -
This unit was $400 from V1. I LOVE the fact that the V1 STAYS where you put it. It doesnt vibrate or move ever. Which is a good thing. Another great thing is its very lite, which is nice. It also doesnt seems to run as warm as the Redline. The con is the display is outdated and the knob feels VERY cheap. And its VERY hard never read anything and try to program it...its takes a bit of research. But the V1's rear antenna is better than the Redline. And better at I/O shots...

IF I HAD TO CHOOSE ONE -
Honestly, the winner would go to the V1. Its not as sensitive as the Redline but its proven great. The V1 is less chatty in the city and seems to do very well with the arrows.

THERES MORE - But, I honeslty dont ever see myself running only one detector. Sometimes the V1 beats the Redline and sometimes the Redline beats the V1. If you are a serious speeder I would personally run two detectors. I LOVE my V1/Redline combo. But i will say this - NO DETECTOR WILL PREVENT ALL TICKETS - there is always pacing, I/O, Q/T, laser, air craft, etc. Its only a tool....the best two tools i have ever bought

BTW, I have seen no interference...and if any would be there..it would be the V1 affecting the Redline...but the Redline is usually first. lol
    Thanks for reading

I know what you mean about the redline moving around. Sometimes I leave for a trip and 30 minutes later, the redline is in the back seat grabbing drinks from my cooler and eating my chips.

I'm trying to think why the V1's rear antenna would be better than the redline's "rear antenna"... hmmmmmmmmm....... nothing comes to mind.

Could it be because.......the Redline and every other detector don't have rear radar antennas because Valentine Research has a patent on it that is about to expire. Maybe I should make a new thread in the Valentine Forum to speculate about what will happen in the industry once VR's patent expires.

Nice review! The V1's also cheaper than the redline, so it's a good one to start with for newcomers who don't need stealth!

Thanks for the Review. It goes to show which ever RD that you have, you will not go wrong with either one.

I agree on taking the V1 over the Redline. It is quieter and actually stays on my windshield. I absolutely hate the Redline mount. I can't go a week without coming out to my car and finding the Redline hanging by the cord that yanked out of my headliner. I took it down yesterday when I got out of my car because I came out to my car 4 days in a row this week to find the Redline hanging by the cord. That was after putting on the spare suction cups the thing comes with last week because the others ones had been letting it fall off the windshield so much. I'll start taking the thing down altogether when I have people sitting in my passenger seat because the thing is so prone to flying off the windshield.

I love both but my advice to someone looking at buying a Redline, get the supercup mount with it. The stock mount is absolutely horrible.

I truly love my V1 but I keep hearing about the amazing range that the Redline has. It is really nice that we have two EXCELLENT Wind-shield mount RD's to pick from.
