    Default 2400 Mile Roadtrip: ** I need your help please!!!!**

    Hey everyone,

    Im going on a roadtrip from here (Houston) to Canada in a few weeks. Its a helluva drive and I have some important questions. I'll be doing equal amounts of daytime/nightime driving.

    I know its a lot of driving and its a lot of risk to try and NOT get a single ticket. Essentially im looking for superior highway protection, thats all i want. I never use detectors in the city period, simply because i dont speed in the city.

    My route:
    Houston,TX-->Dallas,TX-->Oklahoma City,OK-->Wichita,KS-->Denver,CO-->Casper,WY-->Billings,MT-->Great Falls,MT-->Lethbridge,Canada-->Calgary-->Edmonton

    What detector should I rely on? and why?? (escort x50, v1,etc. ?) I need some expert advice. I plan on cruising at speeds of 85-95 mph. When i roadtrip to dallas...95 is my usual. Whats my best bet for keeping my safe from the police?

    thanks in advance,
    Kaiserjacob

    What he said. And SERIOUSLY consider installing a laser jammer as well. Spring is coming, and with it comes increased laser enforcement. At those speeds you stand little or no chance of blending in with traffic.

    V1 has arrows and the best rear detection with the best laser protection. It is made of magnesium not plastic and is shorter, not as high, and weighs less than the X50 and it has a real concealed display. Cops love to sneak up behind you so rear protection is crucial.

    If you do a search or look at old threads, you'll find that most people here believe that the Escort/BEL is probably better for city/all around use, but that for highway use, the V1 is the best choice.

    Although all three have similar frontal range, V1 has a rear antenna and is far superior for detecting radar from the rear. However, it falses too much in the city for many people's taste, probably even twice as much as the others due to having dual antennas. V1 has the arrows too. Laser sensitivity is second to none, which is good if you don't have a jammer. And it is likely that the pop protection is superior as well.

    The X50 and RX-65 would proviode you with a good level of protection, so if you don't want to spend $400, then they are good choices. But at the speeds you say you'll be travelling, to me that just says V1...

    I would agree Jim. I must say, I like the advice you give. I have not searched the archives, but you seem to give very honest unbiast answers to peoples questions. I appreciate that.

    Thanks, Chris
