Default May have to move to the DC area - Questions,..

Never lived up there and after just adding LI Quad and my hard-wired passport 8500 X50 to a new automobile, questions: Up in DC and Virginia and other illegal states, how often are LEOs running radar detector detectors? Is a hard-wired, mounted high detector OK? Is a Redline a safe (or safer) bet? Using it and then putting under the seat if pulled over? Is that pretty reliable? Also, I will post a similar post in the laser jammer section, but have similar questions about my mounted LI Quad - not like I can take it off, nor would I want to. Please advise on the best tactics for such states.

Default May have to move to the DC area - Questions on my LI Quad GEN 8

Just installed LI Quad Gen 8 in a new vehicle,... I see that detectors and laser jammers are both illegal in DC and Virginia and never expected I may have to live there. Even if I turn the jammers off quickly and never jam to gun, do the LEOs get codes that let them know I am jamming? If I got pulled over and they see the jammers can I say I was not using them and they were installed in my car before I moved there,.... etc.? I already know I have to potentially exchange my Escort 8500 X50 for a redline? Mounted high, is this acceptable for radar use? How risky? Looking for any advice on how to use radar detectors and jammers in these areas.

I would suggest the same, go with a Redline. I have had a V1 now for about 13years now and its time to invest . I have never had a problems with getting busted for my RD.

The penalties for driving 20mph over the speed limit in Virgina can get you a year in jail and $1000 dollar fine. Basically anything over 88 on an interstate you are looking at a week in jail. (3days off for good behavior)

All the jammers and radar detectors in your car well cost you less then a wreckless driving ticket in the ****ty state of Virginia.

Day 1 with my Laser Atlanta Speedlaser R i noticed when i start clocking my car (LI DUAL reg power) it comes up with JM 1 code or JM 3 code something to that effect saying there is a possible jammer. i havent seen that on other cars i tested it on that do not have a jammer.
HOWEVER. LA Speedlaser guns are known for Jamming detection. For example the Truspeed i played with didnt say Anything. i knew to this whole laser nonsense so thats just my .02.. ask radarrob. he knows everything there is to know lol.
What lidar guns do DC use?

as far as the Redline question.. im Against anything NOT V1. i love the arrows! All other detectors IMOP are just "beeps" lol... if V1 would just update there hardware so they dont get detected by the spectra or w/e its called then it would be 10x more awesome.

DO NOT let them catch you with an RD in DC. They will take it and say goodbye

This kind of comment has no place in this forum.

Anyone who is in VA should have, and anyone who is in DC *NEEDS TO HAVE* a stealth radar detector, and for those who don't want to spend the money on a remote unit, the Redline is the ONLY LOGICAL CHOICE.

The Redline is a FINE detector, and many choose it over the V1 for performance alone.
