Best Detector for NJ @ $200 price range?

I'm buying a RD as a gift for a friend who lives in NJ. I know there is everything from X thru Laser there. What is the best detector for NJ for around $200? He mostly drives on the Garden State Parkway and he will not be using countermeasures.

If you want brand new, Whistler XTR690se, Whistler Pro78se or refurbished Escort 8500 would be my choices. I have a Whistler Pro78se and have had very good results with it. The Ka band sensitivity is about 2 seconds behind a Beltronics V995 at 60 mph. This is plenty of notification to real
Ka band threats. The one thing the Whistler will do that no other detector will do is help you determine false alarms from Cobra pretty quick due to the way it processes RSID for KA band. The Escort 8500 will be comparable to the Beltronics V995 or Beltronics RX65 for sensitivity and slight faster reaction to Instant On. Good luck on what ever you decide.

Please don't buy the Whistler. I recommend Vector 955 or the used 8500.
