    Default Best International Detector

Is there a international detector that will work in any country.

    There are basically two "groups" of frecuencies;

    - north america: SuperWide Ka band, narrow Ka 33.8GHz, narrow Ka 34.7GHz, narrow Ka 35.5GHz, 24,150GHz K band, 10.5GHz X band, and 9.410GHz X band.

    - EU: narrow Ka 34.3GHz, 24,125GHz K band, 13.450GHz Ku band, and 9.9GHz X band.

Barring the european X bands, which are rarely used anymore, the only detectors that will cover both sides are Bel550 (or previous version: Bel990) or Valentine One. As to a remote version, it would be the Bel975R, it covers all except the european Ku band which is used in some EU countries.

I found out that the radar that is used here:
Technical Parameters of AD9 T Speed Camera Equipped with TABLET PC:

    Transmitter frequency: 34.3 GHz
Transmitter RF power: typical 0.5 mW, maximum 2 mW
    Antenna beamwidth: 5ş
    Side lobes: minimum -20 dB
Antenna electrical/mechanical axis deviation: max. 0.5ş
    Antenna beam angle relative to
    traffic direction: 22ş
Method of measurement : approach, departure, both directions
Maximum range to measured object: 60 m (4 traffic lanes)
    Selectable ranges: 60 m, 30 m, 20 m
The range is to be selected from the three values mentioned above which means a distance of the radar antenna of the speed camera from the measured object under the angle of 22.
    Speed measurement interval: 1 km/h
Range of guaranteed measurement accuracy: 20 km/h to 250 km/h
    Speed measurement accuracy:

    to 100 km.h-1 3 km/h
    over 100 km.h-1 3 %
    Start of measurement: manually, automatically
Long /short vehicle distinguishment: at approach,at departure

    Measured data outputs: display image
    file in computer data medium
    voice output

Digital camera beam angle relative to traffic direction: 19

    Image resolution: 2 million pixels
Electronic shutter speed: 1/60 to 1/10000

Average file size after compression:1 MB black-and-white image 1.5 MB colour image

    Compression format: JPG-LS

    Lens Minolta AF (24-105 mm, F 3.5 4.5)

Identification data on measurement displayed measurement identification
    in the image: measured speed
    time of measurement
    date of measurement
    radar range
    image number
    serial number of the device
    speed limits
    lens ZOOM

Two people that I know are using the Escort 8500, one of them told me that the it detects but in short range he told me that if you are driving like 200km you can't slow down to be clear but maybe because he has the old model and because he is driving very fast !! The other guy have bought many detectors most of them Bel and nothing worked better than 8500, so how come.

    Is there a better than 8500 X50

If you're driving 200 or more Kmph i dont think any of the detectors will give sufficient warning to slow down to 100 or similar... the Bel 975R/966 are probably your best bets from what Carlos has said before, even better than V1 EURO mode.

I think will get the 8500 as both people used it.

To confuse You ( so european we think we are ) in Finland we use narrow Ka 34.7GHz and 24,150GHz K band (Stalker and Kustom made radars).
Oh and now 34,3 GHz Multanova

    No Ku, no X

IMO, only Stalker here in Estonia... Seems to be Europe as well
    And no Multanovas... yet?
    But with Spectre

I think one more difference between the Bel 975R and 966R:

    - 966R has some anti-GSM chip that prevents mobile phones interfereing (Carlos)

    - 966R ramps up the Ka band warnings quicker than 975R, but initial warning time is the same (Flits)

    - 966R does not come with laser detectors by default, the 975R does, not that they are very useful anyway as they are not jammers

    - 966R detects Ku band, while 975R detects X band instead. Both have Ka narrow and K bands.

    - 966R tends to be about 2/3 to double the price of the 975R because Target jacks up the price.

I think I covered the best 2 remote detectors for Euro/Intl usage, aye? Perhaps I missed something or got something wrong?
