I'm ready to dump up to $500 on a window detector but have the usual midatlantic conundrum. I live in North Carolina but regularly drive through Virginia (particularly on I-81 between Winchester and the interchange to I-77 on to NC).
Although I don't own a V1 I have driven a close family member's truck that had a V1 and absolutely love it. From what I have researched on this forum and elsewhere the V1 has better I/O and QT performance than any other detector out there and from what I've seen that is very common now days. However I am also strongly considering the Escort Redline because of it's invisibility to RDD (Spectre) but I've heard its mediocre for the I/O and QT stuff.
My question is for those of you who regularly use a V1 in Virginia (particularly on I-81) what are the odds that I will get caught using it? My plan is to hardwire whatever detector I buy close to my rear view mirror and hopefully install and quick kill switch (any suggestions to the custom switch setup as well) which should hopefully minimize the chance of an officer visually seeing either detector but if you get pulled over odds are they'll see it anyway with the suction cups on the windshield (maybe a visor mount). Any help or thoughts would be appreciated.
