Hi guys, I haven't been on here since the fall.
I go to school in Akron and will sometimes commute home on the weekend to Ashtabula which is in the North East corner of Ohio. It is about a 100 mile drive through Rt. 8, I-271, and I-90. This fall I started to notice the traffic sensors around the Cleveland area and my V1 can go for about 40 miles with non stop beeping on the K band because of this. I called V1 and the rep was very nice and was from Cleveland himself, he told me to program the V1 to mute the K for a certain amount of time and turn off the rear K band detection. That really cut down on the constant beeping but it is still really annoying me.
I had to come home today for an allergy shot and was driving down the road that I live on and my K band goes off and I see the sheriff about 20 yards away in the oncoming lane. I was only going 5 over so it wasn't a big deal. An hour before that I was doing 15-20 over and that would have definitely gotten me a ticket. Most of the time I will run into a HP on my road and they will be running X band. The county made a bunch of cuts last year and now there is one Sheriff for the county and I believe this is my first encounter with him giving speeding tickets.
I really like the V1 and I don't want to give up it up, but I feel like I need a different detector for driving through 271 to get around the traffic monitoring systems. Should I buy the Escort Redline or the 9500xi for going to school and then use the V1 with K band completely on when I am home for those few days a month and when I am home for the summer?
I have been thinking about this for awhile and after my close call today now I would like to do something about it.
