Default Running V1 and STi-R together

I turned off X-band on the Sti-R+ today b/c I didn't want to listen to two falses together. I have autolockout turned off. TSR, GPS, RDR, and everything from red light cam to speed trap is turned off. Laser off. Only things that are on are K band, and Ka segments 2,5,and 8. If I turn K band off as well, will this possibly help the 3 segments of Ka? The V1 does a great job on K and X band for me. Wondering if turning everything off on the + and leaving just Ka 2,5, and 8 will help improve its Ka performance? Thanks in advance guys.

Not really sure if it will make it more sensitive to Ka. It just won't report the other bands.

    Let others chime in though.

You can turn K back on. I don't believe it improves sweep time on KA band at all.

Here are the settings for my STi-R:
    POP Off
    RDR Off
    SWS Off
    X-Band Off
    Ka Segmenting 2,5,8 only
These settings for a fact do improve sweep time.

So bascially turn everything off, and just leave K and Ka 2,5,8 on is what you're saying?

Do you have another RD to detect X-band with?

x2. From my understanding (of what Nine_c1 explained to me) the detector does nothing but sweep across the entire spectrum of radar I think 10 Ghz all the way to 36 Ghz. The idea in turning off X band and K band (or any set of frequencies) is to stop the sweep of a particular part of the spectrum, making the time it takes to scan the spectrum shorter. This is all probably common knowledge for you (SaltyinNJ) though considering you understand how band segmentation works.

What nine_c1 explained to me though is that the sweep isn't necessarily stopped in certain antennas when you turn off x or k band. The detector is still taking the time to sweep for the signal, but it just doesn't alert to it. I'll see if I can pull up the explanation he gave me.

Read starting at post 43, post 45 is where the explanation is.
Thanks for the link! So there in not much of a positive gain, but 4-8% still might be worth it for my setup.

Actually the detector only sweeps the X band (10.500-10.550 - 50 MHz sweep), K band (24.050-24.250 - 200 Mhz sweep), and the whopper, Ka band which is 33.4-36.0 (2.6 GHz sweep). Obviously X and K are very narrow and take almost no time to scan; most of the time is spent scanning the superwide Ka band. Turning off Ka segments causes the detector to bypass parts of the scan, making it scan faster.

Since on Belscorts turning off bands does suppress the scan of those bands, I wonder how a M3 platform detector with Ka turned off would perform on X/K. It would probably pick them up from the next town.

Thinking of turning off Ka band on the V1, since the + has beaten or tied the V1 on every Ka encounter so far. But I like the high mount of the V1, and I 'm just paranoid that the low mount of the M3 antenna will bite me in the ass, thus needing the high mounted V1 to pick up the slack if that does happen. Its tempting tho, although I also don't want to be hearing K and X band falses from the now super sensitive V1 if this actually is the case.

What is the reason for other brands not suppressing scans when certain bands are turned off? It seems like common sense.
