Default Beltronics STi Driver vs v1?

Just went on a trip with v1 from MN to Detroit.. V1 works pretty sweet.
My question is My friend was asking how does v1 compare to sti driver.
I said I would think v1 has better range plus a sweet bogey counter arrows true 360.
He talked to his friend, told him about the v1 on the trip what he the
truck driver friend said V1 where good 5yrs ago nothing compare to sti driver
cant be picked up by rdd. sti have better range.

If you want stealth go for the redline or sti's if you want the best then go for V1

If you're happy with the v1 stick with it!

There is always some unit to unit variation and so you might find an STi that will outperform a V1 on occasion........perhaps 35.5 consistently on off-axis detections.

The RedLine is probably equivalent to a very Hot STi or a step above. Generally speaking, the RedLine has a range advantage over the Valentine but the V1 reacts quicker to triggered radar and has a better audio ramp up on Ka. Other than sensitivity and response times, I prefer the adjustable mute level on the V1 and K-Band mute options as oppposed to automute on the Belscorts......and the arrows can be VERY useful. If however you drive in an area that uses K-Band traffic sensors (spreading rapidly) then the TSR option on the Belscorts is a must.

With the introduction of the RedLine, the only virtue left to the STi is that it's $30 cheaper and has a better Ka ramp up compared to the Escort.

gtpjonny, I have both the STI driver and the V1 and have my V1 hard wired with concealed display in my car, and the STI is mounted in a set of drawers in my bedroom !!! Now don't get me wrong i think the STI is a great detector and I have had some excellent saves from it, but I still prefer the V1 for my driving situation.

Where I drive (middle east) I don't need to worry about RDD's and the police over here run C/O K band and Ka band, and I know you are not meant to run 2 detectors together, but when i have done this with the V1 mounted low on the dash and the STI mounted high, they alert at almost the same time (sometimes V1 slightly faster and sometimes STI slightly faster) but in the encounters I have had there was nothing in it on Ka. I have never had them mounted together when I have come across K band so cant comment.

The other advantage for me over here is the V1's ability to detect policsan fixed and van mounted laser cameras (they don't use laser guns here yet) and I get a full 6 seconds more warning range with it compared to the STI. I have LI dual as well, but I like to hear them both go off confirming laser.

Short answer, both are excellent detectors, but I will be using the V1 until I head home to Australia where the STI will have to take over due to it being undetectable, and my Laser Interceptors will look after the laser for me.

Considering RD's are illegal for all commerical vehicles in the U.S., it's no surprise that a truck driver believes that a RDD immune RD such as the Driver or Redline is better since that is their only option. Aside from those who regularly drive commerical vehicles or those who regularly drive through Viginia/D.C., RDD immunity is an essentially meaningless feature. Aside from that, it simply comes down to which detector's feature set is more valuable to you.

Most police have other things to do than just traffic enforcement. My friend is a k9 has dog with all the time. They do drug , and find people chasing jobs
    more than traffic.

Also people that drive with me always wonder when we pass a leo , why no radar. it would really cool for detectors to detect the high bandwidth cellular in the squads and let us know..lol

Both are good detectors for what they are made for, I have the Redline and the V1 also I use the Redline going to Las Vegas (Sin City) but I didn't have the V1 then. I think that I would still use the Redline because of the distances and off-axis but I use my V1 and have been since about eight months now and love it. It all depend on your liking for what area you in.
