Default About to Buy Bel Rx-65

Hi I am about to buy a Bel Rx-65 for 199 while it is on sale. I was wondering if this is a good detector that would last me a while (poor college student).

I don't usally speed but since I am in charlotte for a couple of months and drive I-77 to work everyday (55 mph speed limit) i was thinking about getting one. I could easily drive 65 mph on this road when the traffic is not bad.

I dont drive past 75 mph because of NC crazy speeding laws and drive mostly interstates when i travel home once a month on the other side of Raleigh. I drive a chevy corsica but the RD will eventually end up in my moms honda after this summer so it cannot be too chatty.

With all of that info out of the way, do you think this would be a good RD for me

If that is the refurb from escortradar on ebay then yes,it is a good RD and well worth the money. It has the older S7 antennae rather than the M4 on the new models. From what I have read, most people prefer the S7 platform over M4.

It will be an M4 since they want $299. It is still a good quality detector worth using.
I don't know if newegg is an authorized dealer. If not then I would send it back, sorry.
If they are then great, you won't have any worries if something happens to it under warranty etc.

I just checked and they only have a list of unauthorized sellers. Fastest way would be to call Beltronics. If they say no,then send it back unopened. I don't want you to get a bum unit and not have any recourse.

I do not know. I can say that some states use laser and instant on radar more than others so be careful. Other than that you should be fine.

Yea I know. NC can be a real PITA when it comes to speed but the enforcement is not like Texas unless they are doing some kind of operation from what i have seen.

Hi, I had a BEL RX65 myself and it served me very well, however, I recommend that you either:

    a) Save your money and get the best of the best (V1 or Redline)...just because you will eventually end up wanting one...and ESPECIALLY because you live in North Carolina!
    b) Get the Refurb Escort 8500 that is at Escort's Ebay store. It performs just as well and is cheaper.

I'd definitely recommend choice a though, even though it is the more expensive route. The V1 is $399, and the Redline is $499.

The choice is yours, but seeing how I was in the same position as you, I'd recommend getting the V1 or Redline. North Carolina is notorious for their highway patrol and outrageous speeding laws. If the V1 or Redline saves you once, then it is all worth it. They use a lot of instant-on radar and the 8500/RX65 will not be able to catch that. Please don't cheap out on a radar detector, if you're going to speed, you're going to need the best of the best.

    Good luck!
