Default Strength of Automatic Doors that use K band

I have "tested" several stores that send out a K band signal from their automatic doors. Question is... How strong are those signals compared to a real radar used by police?

Not very. Compare the actual range of the units, when does the door open as you walk towards it?

they are very very low powered but you can get a good detection distance off them....

as valentine says this is the best way to test a radar detector, obviously the more sensitive it is the longer it will pick it up!

Thanks guys! I was about 500' from the doors and getting about 3-5 on my whistler 1788. Didn't know if that was good or bad

That's not bad at all. These things are pretty interesting to "practice" with.
