    Default Bushnell fun hurting RD

Does shooting off your Bushnell hurt RD's? Even with a M3 antenna outside of the vehicle, will shooting your Bushy hurt it?

Why would it? I'm trying to make logic of why it would hurt any RD's. That's like saying anytime your RD goes off, it hurts the detector. Perhaps, if you hold the trigger down for 15 minutes straight once everyday your speaker might blow and your led's might burn out.

I think I read a post from CJ on the Escort forums, stating that he believes this can and did happen with one of his RD's. I think it was him, can't be sure for sure. But I'm conviced that it can and does hurt it, if the radar srouce is inside the cabin. Even with QT shots, I do believe if the radar is close enough to the RD, that it could have a harmful effect on it.

I'm just looking to see if anyone has any scientific answers to this question.

I've heard people here say it, and after using my Bushnell a few times while my V1 is mounted, it has having a hard time with K band sometimes. I too am thinking that the gun is overloading the RD.

It's possible that a very strong signal could overload the LNA in the RD's horn and damage it. Very strong, being a radar source within inches or a couple feet of the RD. RDs are very sensitive so they can pick up distant radar, they aren't designed to handle a really strong signal up close for any length of time.

That said, I wonder if the RD is turned off if it can still harm the LNA.

I have been shooting cobra users for a couple of years now and had no troubles with my rds.

I don't think it will hurt the RD. Remember the RD's are receivers. If they don't detect then its not doing their job.

I have always pondered the same thing, possibly overloading the processor or something I imagine like anything *doing work* it generates more and more heat.

x2. I've been shooting cobras with my bushnell for about six months, in addition to doing tests with the redline and V1 on Q/T. My V1 seems to be perfectly fine
