I have a 693se that i can sell for $75 to a friend. I can buy a used V940, a newer one with tsr, for $90. Does m4 V940 compete with the kamax of the se whistlers?
Is this wise? Am i trading down or up?

I have the v995. 98% of the time if gives you enough or just enough time to slow down. It's I/O detection is pretty solid from what I have seen. What part of upstate NY are you from?
The 693se will beat a pro 73 big time but the v940 may match or beat the 693se. I say get them all and see for yourself.
The Pro 78 gained 8-10 db's on Ka band more than the Pro 73. The Whistler SE platforms with Ka max mode gained anywhere from 3-5 more db's then the Pro 78. I have driven over 50,000 miles with Whistlers. i have alot of videos.
Bought the v940! Got it for 80 bucks, it is in good condition.
Drove with my friend who has an 8500 x50 to go grab it, a 50 mile trip. We encountered 4 leo on the way home. 2 of the leo were sitting on a local busy road, one shooting k, other shooting ka. Could you get a better testing situation?!! We made 2 passes on each cop with each detector. The v940 performed about the same, if not a bit better than the x50. I have no even played with the settings yet. Anyways, i am quite satisfied with my purchase. Probably will sell the 693se
