Default Finally picked up a Redline

I posted on here a few months ago about the traffic sensors around Cleveland and the Valentine 1. Valentine had told me to mute the K band for the first few seconds of the encounter and to mute the K band in the rear. I had the V1 set to mute the K band for the first 7 sec and I had two really close calls with the local cops that like radar and I was still having tons of falses on I-271 and Rt. 8.

You guys told me to pick up a Redline which I waited on for awhile because I didn't want to but a second expensive radar detector. So I finally bought one last month and I have been extremely happy with it. I am mad at myself for not getting one sooner. I just can't get over how few falses the Redline has compared to the V1.

My only complaints with the Redline is that Escort doesn't supply the hard wire cable which they should for a $500 detector. Also what I dislike about the hard wire kit is that the leds on the remote mute switch are full brightness all the time which gets to be really annoying at night. I have just put electrical tape over it to deal with it. Also, I hate how the Redline bounces up and down all the time. The V1 is solidly held to the windshield and doesn't move at all, while the Redline can't sit still.

Anyhow I just wanted to say thanks for leading me in the right direction.

Escort TSR = LEO will nab you during the 2 second delay with instant-on. As happya$$ calls the RL: sleeping beauty. I guess she is slow waking up.

I know how you feel about speed sensors. I drive 70 miles daily on I-71 up to I-480 with 3 seconds muting. Some valley areas you can be picking up two or sensors as they are spaced about .9 mile apart. Sometimes they overlap for a day or two.

Hope you have good luck with Escort quality.

Smartcord LEDs too bright? Here's the fix: http://www.radardetector.net/forums/...ad.php?t=53564

Congrats on the Redline. It's a great detector.

That is the downside to the TSR but I feel that I am better off with it. With the V1 I was just turning the volume down on it when I was on 271 because most of the time the cops there would be using laser. But the first run I made with the Redline there was a HP sitting there using X. That was the first time I have seen a State Boy sitting on 271.

Even with the 7 seconds muting and the rear muted I would still get close to 40 falses on 271 alone.

The V1 was turning into the Boy Who Cried Wolf. I still like the V1 a lot and I love the arrows. So I still have the V1 mounted in my car to use locally and then the Redline for highway driving.

    Glad you like the Redline.
There is no "perfect" RD and we all must choose the best for our preferences and application. Glad you found the right detector for you. The Redline is a great unit.

I think Happya$$ went through the same thing. Sold his 3.813, bought a Redline. Then I think he sold his Redline for the STi-R+. Purely for the TSR.

Agree, Escort should provide more amenities w/their RD's but just a small gripe I have also.

Kpatz created a great post on how to "tone down" the lights on the cord and as for the RL bouncing allot, it's a really heavy Windshield Mounted RD, not much to do for that than get ya a really sturdy mount for it, I use a visor holder for mine and it works great for me.

I had the same situation as you with the traffic sensors and so I switched to the Redline about a year ago. So far I've been happy with its performance and range. No tickets or close calls yet. My Redline bounced around too, so I got a Supercup mount that holds it rock-solid.

Escort used to provide all kinds of cool stuff with the STi driver, I got a nice case, speaker, hardwire kit etc. Not sure why they stopped doing that.
