Built in radar questions please...

Hello...In the next few months I will be buying my wife a new vehicle in the crossover/small SUV class. She is wanting to have a built in radar detector (her current car has one that we bought from her father and loves it).

I have been reading several posts and articles but as with anything new it is alot of information and doesn't fully "click" yet. (if that makes sense) My knowlege of radar detector technology is minimal at best.

We do alot of traveling due to my daughter playing travel softball and basketball so the areas we travel go from very rural, to urban ie, Atlanta, Nashvilles and such. We live in a mid size city, Chattanooga, that has several light radars too.

To the meat of the question...What are some of the better built in detectors that would be recomended. I don't need the most expensive but would like to have something that works too. LOL Something in the 1000.00 range.

I know this is a long post and I apologise, but I find forums like this have a wealth of information and usually have people who are extreamly helpful.

Kevin your best bet is the Beltronics STIR Plus. It is the most sensitive and quickest reacting remote install right now.

STi R Plus is your best bet. 9500ci is good but not as responsive and is more expensive. Also consider jammers since they are already doing the installation.

It's a kickass detector... It balls on K band and q/t shots with band segmentation on.

I'll have to agree with these guys. The + is a beast of a RD. The key is you have the gps to lockout all of the local falses and you can turn off a lot of filtering.
