I am currently using the Whistler 1783 (i think retail unit same as pro58 or pro53)and it's not really doing the trick for me. I recently got a motorcycle cop laser ticket from the crest of a hill (admittedly I'm not sure if any other detector would have done anything)
Chances are, it seems I will get hit by laser more likely than radar in San Diego where I live.
I was thinking about picking up a permanent install because I drive a convertible and while I usually park in perfectly safe areas, I don't want to worry about someone ripping open my convertible top to take a radar detector (even if I hide it or take it with me, they'll see suction cup marks)
So I guess that leaves me with the Bel or Escort solutions + jamemrs. It seems from the tests I've read on radar busters and GOL that the hard install units are inferior to the windshield units like the V1... and either way, it looks very difficult to install in my car since I'm not sure where you can mount the jammers since there is no room except perhaps near the overhang of the front bumper...
(pics for reference on how to mount/install sensing/jamming hardware)
Anyways, I was just gonna say screw it all and buy a V1 and be done with it since it seems to be the only one worth a damn for laser detection and simply live with the suction cups.
So my questions are, what's the best hard install RD/Laser Jammer combo I can buy next week and how do you guys recommend I mount the hardware considering the structure of the car.
