    Default SML POP mode tests

Your chances of encountering POP Mode are the same as you driving to the moon? non-existent! This is not an opinion, but a fact. Only three states, Iowa, Oregon, and Nevada ?include POP radar guns on their state contracts. Being on a state contract d

Click on the above for their "Test" results.

Add SML to the list of complete idiots that don't know how to operate an MPH K-Band POP gun!!!!

None of those detectors.......and in particularly the Belsorts........have a snowballs chance of detecting a 16ms K-Band POP shot!

This just goes to show how clueless these "certified professional radar instructors" actually are about the equipment their using. What really blows my mind is that there were reps there from the Radar and Radar Detector manufacturers! How could they possibly accept these bogus results?

As for their estimate of encountering POP..........also entirely bogus! First off; there are more states than Nevada, Iowa and Oregon in which you can find yourself getting "popped". Just because the State Agency isn't contracted to MPH doesn't mean the County or Local LEO's aren't using it.

I think I see a BEE III antenna on the dash of this Idaho Cruiser.

Also, I picked up a very nice POP cable MPH Enforcer........used......out of North Carolina. South Jersey has plenty of these units in use by the local estabishment and folks have seen them just about everywhere else.

    SML...........get a clue!

I'm still going to show you that my stiR picks up 16ms pop.Whenever I'm free I'll make a video of it.

I find it funny how they use the detector's strength meter to determine sensitivity. WTF are they thinking?

Think I need to teach them how to set up a real test course. I really could care less if my unit picks up radar at 9 miles. More useful would be testing 3-5 miles with some terrain in between.

According to their tests, the Spectre III detected units much further out than the IV ? Then they didn't detect the Solo at all ? mmmmmm

I have MANY issues with this test...

    1) The POP mode K-band testing claims Belscorts can detect it even when Escort has said themselves their systems do NOT. They even say the SOLO3 does, which has minimal CO K-band or Ka-band detection, let alone IO/QT/POP.

    2) Their long range tests are worthless. The long range performers were not allowed to 'shine' and their measurement variable of signal strength makes all detectors look 'good'. Put the detection distance of 35.5 up and you will get to see where the Redline shines...but this did not happen.

    3) They did NOT test the Laser Interceptor, which DOES jam the Laser Ally, and instead 4 (really just three) models, all which have inferior abilities to the LI. Anyone serious about the RD world KNOWS the LI is one of the best performers, and possibly the best. Why would you not test it?

    4) The off-axis testing was not done with any mounting height consistencies and presumably has been done with different vehicles, making it worthless. It also looked at 1/4 mile only and used signal strength instead of distance as the primary value of measurement. It makes the SOLO S3 look as if it offers protection at the same level that the Redline does. The V1 is boasted to be superior in the graph but even the testers admit their results are crap because the V1 was mounted 1 foot higher (or more) than the other detectors, giving it an unfair radar-detection advantage.

    5) I find it hard to believe so many detectors outperformed the V1 in LIDAR detection. This is also likely due to it being mounted 1 foot or more higher than the next highest detector.

    6) Somehow the SOLO S3 has become immune to the Spectre III and Elite AND the Spectre testing has since been changed since publication.

Maybe I am just a research nut because it is my profession but who knows.

because some detectors could go to nearly a full alert at a long long distance off depending on how the alerting system is set. I believe that's it.
