Well, I know that lasers take very short time to lock and get a speed reading and produce a very focused beam (so by the time you're alerted it's usually too late), my question isn't about that.
I've got my first speeding ticket in over 16 years of driving and that resurrected my interest in RDs. Thanks to the page on this forum I found out that lasers are being used right now where I live/drive so that made me reconsider the whole concept.
Considering I'm not prepared to drop a chunk of dough to get the shifters, should I get an RD and be lured into false sense of safety when it wouldn't be able to detect lasers or should I forget about it at all?
Or have there been developments in the RDs and there're units which can detect reflected laser beams as reliably as radars?
Does anyone rely on their RDs without shifters nowdays?
What would you do?
PS. I don't think I'll be able to afford a decent model (V1, redline, 9500ix) at the moment, so if I do get one, it will probably be the refurb RX65 off the escort's ebay account.
PPS. Yeah, if your only suggestion is to drive the speed limit you can just as well not reply.
