Default Does the STi-R+ have better range than V1 and redline?

From my experience, the sti is a lot better on 34.7 than the redline and a little better on 35.5. It beats the redline half of the time on k.

The v1 interferes with the sti, so there are mixed results there. By itself, it should have better range. Also, mounting location makes a huge difference!!!

Overall, I love the STI and its great on k and ka, by consistently beating the redline.

The redline is no slouch though. the STI just has better firmware and features.

This is a hard question to answer. Why? Because the mounting job of a remote unit is the tell-all in performance. Different vehicles at different heights will yield different results (generally, higher = better). Furthermore, you can customize the Ka-band settings on the STiR+ and the V1. Customizing these settings will yield a substantial increase on both. The STiR+ performs differently when each of multiple settings are changed, opening op a few thousand setting combos. The V1 does substantially better with Ka-band with the 'Ka-Guard' off. Certainly, all of these units offer protection which no other unit will provide, and each has their pros and cons. HOWEVER, I am convinced that quantifying them when comparing is very, very difficult.

My V1 has been doing better than my STi-R+ lately. Some claim interference, but it was doing much better before I sent it in for repair. I will be doing testing with the STi-R+, V1 3.872 and V1 3.891, here in a couple weeks. This will answer many of our questions.

The V1's setting of ka gaurd on or off is hardly customization and the stir plus doesn't have a "few thousand setting combo's".

There is no RD that has a better range on KA then the M3 platform. STIR+ is the best RD out of the M3 platforms thus making it the best RD money can buy period.

This might not be the truth from what I am hearing about the newest V1 version.
Postulating that this might not be true when when "No one" has a physical unit as of today nor has anyone tested this so called new V1 (3.892 with Savvy) cant be taken seriously. A 3.892 or whatever the software version is just that- Software-

The horn (waveguide) on the m3 lends itself to a higher db gain then the V1. And V1's new software patch cannot overcome a hardware (waveguide) limitation.

The new V1 3.891 with Ka Guard ON is matching the M3. Just think what it might do with Ka OFF?
