    Default Military Signals

To anyone who has knowledge of frequencies, I just saw this link on CNN.com expressing concern about military frequencies affecting garage door openers:

    http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/12/06/g....ap/index.html

I have also read that garage door opener frequencies could send out false radar dectection. Could these new signals, in turn, disable the effectiveness of radar detectors? Should we be concerned?

    Default garage door openers

Allot of radar detector manufactures claim that garage door openers will give false alerts to radar detectors. We even mention this on our site. However, we never found a garage door opener that would give a false alert. We have tested Sears, Geine and several others. If anyone knows of a brand that can actually give a false reading, we would be interested in knowing about it

I have a 93 V1 with a 97 upgrade front laser only 99 band ID upgrade and yes my Genie Intellicode 1/2 HP Model IS900/A will make it false on X band about two or three LED's in the garage one LED in the driveway. It will false driving by the house one way door open or closed. Garage door has windows. Great I'm finished now I can turn my X band off again!

    Wow, that's interesting...

I had always thought that when they mentioned Garage Door Openers causing false alerts, they meant automatic garage door openers, that use microwave motion sensor so the garage opens when a vehicle pulls up (like at the local service stations, car dealers, and such). I know many of these have an IR beam that goes across, but some are still microwave...

Guess you learn something new everyday...

Thats one leaky garage door opener receiver!
Either that or the detector must be pretty broadbanded too!

Just curious, you don't by chance have some kind of motion detector light or alarm sensor in your garage, do you?
