I do want to stick with the top 4-5 brands. Just really want the TSR or TFS rejection.

Already have a V1 , just looking for a cheaper unit for my wife's car?
Maybe escort 8500x 50?

the v940 by bel is the cheapest beltronics unit to have TSR
v955 costs the same online...(144.99)
Are you really looking for the cheapest detector or a very good deal. How about the RX65. It retails for 299 but you can get a discount on it. That is one heck of a unit for the money. I would hate to see you buy something now and then find out it does not meet your wife's needs. The RX65 is a great balanced unit.
I agree with the RX65, in the US, KA USA mode is amazing plus it is Escort live compatible.

Its for my wife's car. Now looking into things a bit deeper I guess it would need to disable x band , which all new detectors no matter what price should do. Also have good TSR for traffic flow.
It looks as if the 940 won't disable x, unless city mode will.
Look for a Escort 8500 X50 revision 6.5 on the used market or a revision 6.5 RX65
I had TSR ON for a while - but I soon realized that I could completely miss K-band I/O's with it in my local area (which is how K-band is normally being used around here, it is Ka that tends to quite often be left turned on for longer).
SO... In the end I had to settle for turning down the volume of those alerts (or... turn it off completely when I am not speeding).
I don't believe that any detector has really satisfactorily solved the TSR vs K band I/O tradeoff problems.

Well after doing some more research on this topic. I have found the Whistler xtr-338 has TSR. It sells for around 70.00 give or take.
Here is the manual http://www.whistlergroup.com/manuals/xtr/xtr338man.pdf
The unit was at walmart in the store, not online.
Not sure how good this unit is, I should just buy it and try it.
