I've been driving with a V1 3.872 for almost a year and 20k miles now and allowed me to save a lot of travel time ticket free. I drive in NC mostly, with trips to SC often. I run with X, pop, and Ka guard off.
I use 30s muting around town and commuting for work and A mode on highway trips. I have to press mute once during my 10 miles commute. Around town I have to push mute all the time. Tons of Ka false from Cobras, although I have a Bushnell. I have seen it miss Ka when I had guard on so I will not turn it back on.
I thought about adding Savvy to keep me from having to push mute all the time when driving around town, I would set it at 30mph most likely.
Now I'm thinking about giving the STiR plus a try. I would need to sell the V1. I'm also getting tired of moving the V1 around all the time. I never keep it in my windshield when I'm not in the car, wouldn't have to worry with the plus. I also knew I'd get the plus for a future second vehicle, while keeping the V1 in my current car. So maybe I try the plus now and pick up a new V1 in a couple years. I drove with the Red line for a few months with the V1 and do actually miss spec display and the sound of the alerts (not the ramp up just the tone).
Anyone gone from a V1 to the plus regret it? I know I'll miss the arrows but I think the quieter stir doesn't need arrows as much as the V1 does. The way I see it, if I get an alert where I normally drive, I'm on the brakes and I'll figure out where it is based on changing signal strength. I seem to use the arrows more often to see where the drug store is, or the Cobra detector, or the car with lane assist.
