Is the screen display on that able to be software flipped ?
maybe or not ?
so, how will that affect the performance with it mounted upside down? also, wont the little dots on the windshield block the road view?
Upside down is fine if you rely on sound... I do see that people sell V1 mounting brackets that are sideways, and claim better performance hehe
Mounts that put the detector sideways, called vertical mounting, are for better detection of Multanova mobile photo radar which transmits specially polarized radar to limit detection. These are mostly used in Europe and Australia/NZ but they are being reported in some areas of the USA too. Mounting the detector this way dramatically increases detection of these mobile photo radar units but it also decreases detection of normal police radar.
Some of our international distributors carry these special mounts for our detectors where these type of radar units are being used.
X2 we have them here. Some versions of the V1’s are better with polarized radar than others but yet detect normal K band at the same distance???Talk to mike B about that. It’s a lot to with firmware at a guess. The Redline is very very very good at it thou. Concerning the mount to the side of the mirror I wouldn’t run like that, I would be worried that there may be metal in the dots so for me it’s a no go.
LIDAR = Yes, though a high-mounted RD is less apt to spot LIDAR anywaywont the little dots on the windshield block the road view?
RADAR = Depends on the material composition of the dots. A typical polymer sticker onto the glass won't bother radar any more than just being behind the windshield in the first place.
Yeah, I'm in AZ, those vans don't get detected until you're right on top of them....many times less than 100 feet! These are the same radar units that Redflex previously admitted in court that the radar guns were not FCC certified at the time.Mounts that put the detector sideways, called vertical mounting, are for better detection of Multanova mobile photo radar which transmits specially polarized radar to limit detection
Hmmm...could a Escort-Live-connected RD adequately identify a Multanova van and upload it immediately to the Escort-Live database for a few hours?
