Was reading over the 2011-2012 SML annual radar detector test (finding nothing of any value as usual) when I came across their POP mode tests.
I was extremely surprised to find that every detector tested detected the MPH Z25 K-Band POP radar on at least one of two trys. That is amazing......especially since none of the Belscorts is designed to detect K-Band POP at all and even the Valentine one (with K-Band POP) has a snowballs chance against the 16ms pop bursts of the Z25.
Yes, there is K-Band POP........and then there is K-Band POP! The two piece BEE III in it's K-Band edition shoots a slower 67ms burst like the Ka version of the BEE III which is likely due to these being moving/stationary units. Moving mode takes more time to sort out the returns so the two piece units need a longer burst. On the other hand, the stationary only guns (like the Z25 used in the SML test) only need a 16ms burst to get a reading. Even so, the slower BEE III K-Band POP is virtually undetectable by any Belscort.
So how the hell did SML........with trained certified officers, factory reps and two "degreed" engineers get these BOGUS results with the Z25? Well, if you rule out stupidity (not knowing how to operate the gun) that leaves falsifying the results..........pick one. And if this test in not valid, then nothing else they did there can be believed either.
They are not alone in posting bad test results. Roy, you still have this crap posted on your website even after having brought this to your attention months ago.

Craig Peterson is just a little more clever........he doesn't mention K-Band POP at all in his test.

And then there is the only competent test out there with accurate results. This one you can trust.

You know, it's not that POP is that big a deal........it's not. But it IS a big deal when the so called experts show a complete lack of competence in performing a simple test and posting bogus results. It's even worse if they put up those misleading results intentionally.
