SmartCord Live with STI Magnum

Hello. I am looking to pair a STI Magnum with a SmartCord Live. I need a few things clarified.

My plan is to have a 100% stealth installation on my motorcycle. I want to place the STI AND the smartcord underneath my headlight. I have my iPhone mounted on my handlebars. Is the escort live app good enough to be the only display/control interface for the radar detector? Do I need to push any buttons on the smartcord to connect it to the phone? Remember want to hide the smartcord too so I won't have easy access to it.

Regarding the app. It's not too clear on what I have to pay for.
Do I have to pay to pair it to connect it to the STI? In the app description "•Ability to easily connect to ESCORT’s class leading windshield mount radar detectors using ESCORT’s new Bluetooth enabled SmartCord Live™ power cord (select models only – visit for details)" is listed under premium features.

Regarding TrueLock. The app tutorial states it only works on gps enabled units. A website that sells them states "TrueLock was first introducted in Passport 9500ix and BEL GX65 that allows users to lock out unwanted false alerts from automatic doors sensors. SmartCord Live makes TrueLock available for Beltronics STi Magnum and Escort Redline which do not have GPS chipset built-in. Your iPhone must be running the Escort Live app and have an active bluetooth connection and GPS lock." Which one is it?

You can lock out false alerts (TrueLock) with Escort Live connected to a non-GPS detector such as Magnum or RedLine. I didn't know our app tutorial said that. I need to go through it again!

The Escort Live app will completely control and display your detector and it's alerts. You do not need to have access to the SmartCord Live module or the detector.
The SmartCord Live cord comes with a one year subscription to Escort Live premium (all Escort Live features). Free Escort Live does not include Live radar and laser alerts from other users and no speed limit data.
