My friend has my old Cobra RD (I bought it a few months ago) and since my new V1 works so nice, I had no need for two RDs and gave it to him to play with since he has shown an interest in owning one.
So my question is, on his Cobra, he recently took it for a test drive and told me that twice the POP warning went off in two locations - both small towns - and was wondering what triggered it. We went through all the obvious possible causes and all proved negative. In one case he was at a busy intersection stopped at a light (no safety devices being used in this very small town). The other time was while he was driving in another small town several miles away from the first and again the POP alarm triggered once as it did in the other town.
So what could have triggered these false alarms? And while on the subject, is there any one or more common devices that cause false triggers like the case above on each band (X,K,Ka)? I have been enlightened about some of the causes of false triggers and their causes with the laser use band (Sun, certain tail lights, etc.). So aside from the obvious shopping center door openers and some "leaky" burgular alarm causes, what else is out there to cause most of the false alarms on each band?
